Nowra East, bordered by the Princes Highway to the west, lies between Nowra and the newer suburb of Worrigee. Home to Nowra’s first modern sub-division ‘Salisbury Estate’, which was developed in the 70s, it contains brick and tile homes, and a mixture of housing types. Farmland, a golf driving range and the Shoalhaven Ex-Serviceman’s Sports Club provides a buffer between the neighbouring suburb of Worrigee.
Also in Nowra East are some of Nowra’s earliest prominent homes located in Plunkett Street, Journal Street and adjoining streets. This area abuts the Nowra’s CBD, Stocklands Shopping Centre and Nowra High School, while Greenwell Point Road bisects Nowra East providing good access to the surrounding areas.
A thriving neighbourhood shopping centre provides all the necessary conveniences such as a chemist, doctor surgery, newsagency and award-winning bakery. Nowra East also offers two high schools and a primary school, plus extensive playing and recreational fields at Lyrebird Park.
Housing types vary, with smaller older homes of two and three bedrooms ranging from $170,000 – $220,000, middle range brick houses from $260,000 – $330,000 and larger newer home styles with values ranging from $350,000 – $420,000.
