Professionals Nowra The two major defence bases here in the Shoalhaven, HMAS Creswell and HMAS Albatross, have both seen multi-million dollar redevelopments occur over the last few years. Recently completed late last year in 2012 was the $83 million HMAS Creswell redevelopment project. Phase 2 of the LEAP redevelopment project at HMAS Albatross is currently in progress, and is expected to be completed by late 2013.
HMAS Albatross – LEAP Phase 2
Phase 1 of the HMAS Albatross LEAP redevelopment project commenced in 2006 with a focus on improving the independent living accommodation for Australian Defence Force Personnel at Holsworthy Barracks in Liverpool, Gallipoli Barracks in Enoggera and the Amberley RAAF Base near Ipswich. With Phase 1 completed in 2009, Phase 2 has now begun.
As part of Phase 2, HMAS Albatross will receive 170 accommodation units, due to be completed by late 2013. Fundamental to the ongoing recruitment and retention of young people in the Australian Defence Forces, the redevelopment will dramatically improve the living-in accommodation provided to single servicemen and women in the area.

HMAS Creswell
Recently completed in 2012, the $83 million HMAS Creswell Jervis Bay redevelopment project saw refurbishment of existing facilities include Heritage structures, an overhaul and upgrade of all services and the construction of new facilities including accommodation barracks and offices through to the high-tech Royal Australian Navy School of Survivability and Ship Safety.
The redevelopment covered a diverse range of works, including improved engineering services and infrastructure, upgraded accommodation, new and upgraded instructional facilities, new physical fitness and training facilities, upgraded officer trainee recreation facilities, waterfront environment works, teaching facilities and an upgrade to the armoury.
